Youth work
The Youth team advances the health and well-being of young people in Mulanje. Around 32.000 youth aged 10-14 are living in the catchment area. The Youth Centre at Mulanje Mission and 55 Youth Clubs throughout the catchment area are the main centers of activity.
Topics the Youth team tackles are, for example, the prevention of teenage pregnancy, the prevention of HIV/AIDS and the development of essential life skills among youth. The provision of Youth Friendly Health Services and education sessions at schools are some of the activities done.
At the Youth Centre, there is a learning support centre, a social workshop for vocational skills and a sports court. We believe that encouraging the youth to grow and learn and boosting the positive spirit of the youth will contribute to youth development and empowerment in Mulanje.
The Youth team works closely with local churches, schools and other supportive groups.
