Children in the ward are admitted with their caretaker. There is a high-dependency unit for very sick children, with oxygen and other medical equipment, and a treatment room. The ward also has designated spaces for children with malnutrition, burns and infectious diseases.

The main diagnoses are pneumonia, bronchiolitis and malaria, though the number of admissions due to malaria has decreased in recent years (see: malaria control under environmental health).

The paediatric ward underwent a major renovation in 2020-21 with help from the English Reformed Church and Wilde Ganzen.
